A truly bilingual education: We combine the Brazilian curriculum with the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes and create readiness for the challenges of today’s globalised world.
Learning Journey
Bilingual Education
At SIS Swiss International School, children can learn both Portuguese as well as a second language through immersion – even if they are not native speakers of either language. The SIS faculty is composed of both Brazilian and foreign teachers that apply the "One person, one language" principle. They use the same language not only for teaching in the classroom but also in the school yard.
The immersion method exposes students to the rational, emotional, and cultural dimensions of the language. This is the foundation for developing complete fluency.
Learning Journey
In key areas and to promote bilingualism, SIS has developed specific curricula to enrich learning with relevant and meaningful content. In Brazil, we have implemented the SIS IT Curriculum and are currently implementing the SIS Writing Curriculum.
SIS also promotes activities that connect our schools globally, in person or online, providing students with a platform to exchange experiences and insights that go beyond their borders.
Learning Journey
The schools of SIS Swiss International School in Brazil are part of a small group of schools that apply the International Baccalaureate Organization programmes from preschool to college, offering an IB continuum education. Learn more about the IB and its programmes that are an important part of our pedagogical proposal.
