Our excellent academic curriculum is supplemented with a range of activities and offers outside the classroom to enrich learning experiences during the school day.
Student Life
We are convinced that the place where students learn has a decisive influence on how they learn. In Rio, we therefore place great importance on an open school space that provides a welcoming atmosphere to students, staff, parents and guests alike, thus creating a pleasant overall environment.
With a vast multilingual collection, our libraries are a pleasant and inviting environment for reading. In the Araújo building, we also have an outdoor area that combines relaxation and studies.
Our school has both a carpentry and an art studio where students are able to make their ideas tangible.
In our biology laboratory, our students can find scientific school equipment suitable for IB research, with the support of specialised teachers.
A space that includes modern equipment and an infrastructure that accompanies the use of Office 365 in learning.
A carefully designed space for free play. A safe and fun environment where kids can unleash their creativity and energy by interacting with each other.
Strong Network
For our students, we organise numerous activities that promote international exchange. In particular, the SIS Cup and the annual Intercountry Activity provide a shared experience and a glimpse beyond the boundaries of a school.
During the SIS Cup, which spans two days, the focus is on sports, fairness, and fun. Teams from all SIS schools compete against each other in individual and team disciplines, while everyone cheers, plays, sweats, and laughs. In addition to sports, we also connect our learners through the annual Intercountry Activity. In previous years, we have organised international math days, a gift exchange, a storytelling exchange, a photo campaign, and an IT activity using Ozobots.
Furthermore, we recognise the three best written theses by SIS graduates with the SIS Best Essay Award. These written works are produced as part of the final examination for national university entrance qualifications or the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.
We will continue to develop exciting formats. Join us and be a part of it!
Student Life
At the end of the school day, our students have the possibility to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, focused on their areas of interest and individual needs. In a relaxed and fun environment, they develop new skills, friendships and autonomy.
With a variety of options, our students can choose activities that develop logical thinking, creative thinking, interpersonal relationships, and planning, sports, artistic and socio-emotional skills.
Student Life
Every day, students are served a hot lunch, communally enjoyed in the school cafeteria. The buffet, developed by nutritionists, offers a wide variety of choices so that students can enjoy a healthy, balanced and attractive meal. During lunchtime, younger students are accompanied by teachers and assistants, who encourage conscious and healthy eating habits as well as autonomy.
Student Life
Regular field trips, games, exercise and movement, both indoors and outdoors, play an important role at Escola Suíço-Brasileira Rio de Janeiro by SIS Swiss International School (ESB Rio de Janeiro). Furthermore, the children take part in activities and projects with other classes, and celebrate local and international festivals and traditions.
